Danzón A brief overview of Danzón (a slow to medium tempo dance and a predecessor of Salsa and Ballroom Rumba) when to start and stop the dance (Introduccion y Paseo), its variant styles, rhythmic patterns, the beat, some instrumentation, how and when to listen for the musical cues, the sections of the dance, introduction of basic step that leads up to Son, Introduction to Danzon-Cha and Cha Cha Cha as it relates to Danzon-Cha, and social niceties of early nineteen to mid-nineteen hundreds. Salsa Workout: Body Movement and Styling In this highly energetic, full body workout, we explore some of the roots and relatives of Salsa in Rumba, Son, Mambo, Cha-cha-chá, Merengue, Comparsa, Samba, Afro-Cuban folkloric dance and more! Through isolations we gain strength, flexibility and articulate expression throughout the entire body, beginning with the core. We warm up with basic salsa footwork and move on to explore more complex rhythmic variations, stylistic embellishments and related dance styles building towards completing the class with a dynamic and fun choreography. We will break down contemporary Cuban-style Salsa and Casino, showing you how to enhance your Salsa dancing with unique rhythmic footwork and how to execute your moves with style.

Ladies Styling-Dancing with Elegance and Flavor! This workshop is dedicated to the soft yet flavorful movement of the arms, ribcage, hips and legs. Ladies will experience how to move their bodies to the music and add style/spice when inspired. Body isolations and styling will be covered using the basic salsa step, right and left turns as well as some coreographed footwork moves.
Upon completion, styling smoothly and with flavor will be accomplished to be added while dancing with your partner or alone when doing footwork. Release your inner energy and dance from the inside out as the music inspires you.
